How to convert CGPA to percentage

The most common formula is percentage = CGPA × 9.5, used by CBSE and recommended by UGC. A CGPA of 8.2 is 8.2 × 9.5 = 77.9%. To go back, divide by 9.5: 78% ÷ 9.5 = 8.21 CGPA.

Many universities and autonomous colleges publish their own formula instead — such as CGPA × 10, (CGPA − 0.75) × 10, or (CGPA × 7.1) + 11 for Mumbai University engineering. The calculator shows every common formula side by side, but the one that counts is printed on your marksheet or in your university’s grading rules.

Which number do I put on my resume?

Put the CGPA as it appears on your marksheet, e.g. “CGPA 8.2/10”. Add a percentage only when the job asks for it, and use your university’s formula. Many company cut-offs (often 60% or 6.0 CGPA) are checked against your documents, so the figure must match.
